Progression Pathways removing barriers and creating opportunities

Higher Education 4.0 programme promoting education for all

One of the projects undertaken by lecturers at Atlantic Technological University Sligo – and funded by the Higher Education 4.0 Project under the Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 3 – is ‘Progression Pathways: Further Education to Higher Education’.

This programme seeks to identify the barriers that prevent students moving from a Further Education (FE) course, such as those offered by Educational Training Boards, to a Higher Education (HE) or third-level college.

By identifying and addressing these barriers the aim is to then create more opportunities for those wishing to pursue HE and, thereby, drive equality of access to education for all.

The pilot programme was conducted by ATU lecturers Gillian O’Donovan (Marketing and Languages), Clodagh Caslin (Economics and Risk Management), Lorraine Murphy (Law) and Ruth Walsh (Law).
