Mark Science Week with an ATU free course
Science + Free Learning = Big Wins this Science Week!
This week is Science Week 2025. A nationwide celebration of how science, research and technology shape our lives, the theme is “Then, Today & Tomorrow”. To mark the week, what better way to expand your horizons than with a free course from Atlantic Technological University?
ATU’s free online-learning platform, freecourses.atu.ie, is offering no-cost, short online courses (MOOCs) that you can enrol in now — many of them embedded in or related to science, sustainability, technology, and broader skills for the future.
Below are a few ways you can marry the two themes — Science Week + freecourses.atu.ie — and get the best out of them together:
🔠Ideas & Suggestions
Pick a theme: Science Week encourages reflection on past → present → future. Consider choosing a free course that connects with you: e.g. a topic around sustainability, environment, or technology.
Set a mini challenge: For example, commit to completing one module on freecourses.atu.ie during Science Week, and share what you learned (via social media, a blog post, or a short video).
Link to real-world science events: Many Science Week events (for schools, communities) focus on hands-on, interactive experiences. Use the free course as a “prep” or “follow-up” to an event: do the online learning, then attend a local workshop, or vice-versa.
Highlight transferable skills: freecourses.atu.ie isn’t only about hardcore science — there are courses on lean construction, ocean pollution, and health & safety, for instance. These mirror how science meets industry, society and everyday life.
Share your story: At the end of the week, post something like: “I completed ___ course on freecourses.atu.ie + attended ____ Science Week event — here’s what I learned / what surprised me / how I’ll apply it.” It helps others see how science learning can be flexible and accessible.
